This book aims to investigate the development, implementation and understanding of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CORESU) within companies. It is intended as a process of understanding social and environmental responsibilities in the capitalistic market system.
On the basis of three case studies in Austria, different practices and perceptions of CORESU are analysed and compared while influencing environments and conditions are identified. Similarities and differences between the cases have led to a causal analysis and a process of making sense. Based on the case study research, this book argues that CORESU can have a positive impact on society and the environment if understood in the right way. However, it is obvious that this is not always the case and often CORESU does not encourage sustainability but sustains misery.
The book makes a major contribution to our understanding of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. It is intended for a wide audience drawn from business, economics and social science.
